Drive Plate, Removing And Installing

Special Tools Needed:
- Counter-hold tool VW 558
- Depth gage
- Torque wrench 40 - 200 Nm (30 - 150 ft lb)

Removing





- Install counter-hold tool VW 558 with bolt M8X45 in drive plate. Place two nuts between counter-hold tool and drive plate.

Installing
- Install drive plate to crankshaft.
- Insert at least three old bolts and tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft lb).





- Using straight edge (left arrow) and depth gauge, measure dimension -a- through three bolt holes (right arrows) and calculate average measurement.

- Compare average measurement with specifications (measured distance plus thickness of straight edge).

Specification: 15.7 to 16.5 mm

- If what you measured is less:





Remove drive plate again and install appropriate shim -1-.

- If the measurement is now OK:

Install drive plate with new bolts and tighten to 60 Nm (44 ft lb) and turn 1/4 turn (90°) further.
