Crankshaft, Removing And Installing
1 - Bearing cap
- Bearing cap 1 vibration damper side
- Bearing cap 5 with recesses for thrust washers
- Bearing shell retaining lugs for cylinder block and bearing caps must be on same side
2 - 3O Nm (22 ft lb)and turn 1/2 turn (180°) further
- Replace.
- Tightening two times 90° for additional 1/4 turn is OK.
3 - Bearing shells 1 to 7
- For beating cap without oil groove
- For cylinder block with oil groove
- Do not interchange used bearing shells (must be marked first).
4 - Thrust washer
- For bearing cap 5. Note position of lug
5 - Crankshaft
- Axial clearance
new: O.07 to 0.23 mm
wear limit: 0.30 mm
- Measure radial clearance with Plastigage�
new: 0.02 to 0.06 mm
wear limit: 0.10 mm
NOTE: Do not rotate crankshaft when checking radial clearance.
- Crankshaft dimensions for:
main bearing 59.958 to 59.978 mm
connecting rod bearing 53.958 to 53.978 mm
NOTE: Do not rework.
6 - Trigger wheel
- For engine Speed Sensor (G28)
- Replace.
7 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb) and turn 1/4 turn (90°) further.
- Replace.
8 - Thrust washer
- For cylinder block bearing 5. Note positioning.
9 - Oil spray jet
- For crankshaft bearings 2 to 7.
- For piston cooling.
- Opening pressure: 2.0 bar
