Rollover Valve: Testing and Inspection
Rollover/Gravity Valve (typical):
The rollover (gravity) valve is located on the fuel filler neck and vents fuel tank vapors to the charcoal canister. It is designed to allow fuel flow in only one direction. This one-way operation prevents raw fuel from flowing out of the fuel tank into the charcoal canister in the event of a vehicle rollover.
Rollover/Gravity Valve (typical):
TESTING
1. Remove the valve from the fuel filler neck by uncliping it and pulling it up out of the filler neck.
2. Hold the valve level and blow air through the inlet, air should pass freely.
3. Tilt the valve 45 or more degrees and blow air through the inlet, air should not pass.
4. If the valve fails either test replace it.
