Tester VAG 1466 is not yet available but will be introduced in September, 1993.

This information is supplied early to ensure that troubleshooting procedures are available when the tester is introduced.

AUTOMATIC SHIFTLOCK, TROUBLESHOOTING USING TESTER VAG 1466

Test conditions:

- Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) OK

Troubleshooting preparations:

- Remove Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Relay (J226), stamped with production control number 150, from relay position 20

- Insert test adaptor VAG 1466/6 into relay position 20

- Connect tester VAG 1466 to test adaptor

Test procedure information:





- Perform test steps in numerical sequence according to table.

- If specified value/test result is obtained, continue troubleshooting with next test step (test result OK).

- If specified value/test result is not obtained, locate and eliminate malfunction using table.

- Use valid wiring diagram for checking wiring.

- Remove all test wires from sockets of VAG 1466 after each step.

IF MALFUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN ELIMINATED AFTER PERFORMING TEST STEPS 1 THROUGH 8,

REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) RELAY (J226).

After repairing malfunction, check automatic shiftlock for proper operation.
