Brake Pad: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.
2. Disconnect parking cables from caliper.
3. On GTI 16V, Jetta Carat, Jetta GLI 16V & Scirocco 16V, remove upper mounting bolt, then swing caliper downward.
4. Remove brake pads.
5. Install brake pads onto carrier, then the caliper and ``new'' self-locking mounting bolts. Tighten mounting bolts to specifications.
6. Reconnect parking brake cable, then adjust parking brake, refer to Brakes and Traction Control/Brakes/Parking Brake System/Adjustments.
