SUBJECT: Airbag system





As of September 1989, a driver airbag housed in the steering wheel is standard equipment on the Cabriolet.

After switching the ignition ON, airbag warning light will light up for approximately 5 to 8 seconds. Unit is ready when light, goes out.

If warning light does not go out: test airbag system with VAG 1551 diagnostic unit, as described in this Repair Group.


If warning light fails to light: check bulb. If bulb is OK: test airbag system with VAG 1551 diagnostic unit, as described in this Repair Group.
