ABS Pump Relay Operation

1. Turn ignition off.
2. Connect multimeter to terminal No. 1 and No. 32 of the ABS 35-pin connector.
3. Set multimeter to 20 DCV scale.
4. Disconnect and measure resistance at ABS hydraulic unit 2-pin connector No. 18, Fig. 2.
5. Depress brake pedal 25 times.
6. Turn ignition on.
7. If reading is not a minimum of 10 volts DC, proceed as follows:
a. Remove ABS pump relay.
b. Check ABS pump fuse.
c. Check the 1-pin connector No. 16, Fig. 2, behind the fuse/relay panel for a good connection.
d. Check for battery voltage at ABS pump relay contact No. 2/30.
e. Check Continuity between ABS control unit contact No. 32 and pump relay contact No. 8/87.
f. If no open circuits are found, replace ABS pump relay.
g. Reconnect 2-pin connector No. 18.
