Cold Running Enrichment Function

1. Ensure frequency valve is operating properly. Connect engine (dwell) tester tool No. VW 1367 or equivalent, (connector 1, blue/white wire) using adapter tool No. VW 1367/5 or equivalent, then depress ``%'' button.
2. Connect remote control tool No. VW 1348/3A or equivalent, to disconnected electrical connector of control pressure regulator and battery positive (+).
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from thermo-switch.
4. On two wire version connector terminal, attach connector ``B'' (brown/red wire) to ground using jumper wire No. VAG 1594 or equivalent, then activate remote control and check duty cycle. Correct reading is 63--67%.
5. On single wire version connector terminal, attach jumper wire No. VAG 1594 or equivalent, between terminals on connectors, then activate remote control and throttle switch and check duty cycle. Correct reading is 78--82%.
6. On both versions, if specified duty cycle is not obtained, locate and eliminate open circuit.
7. If no open circuit is located, replace control unit.
