The Heidelberg VCR sound system is equipped with an electronic locking circuit to deter radio theft.
To make this radio work, a factory code number or customer's personal code number must be entered into the radio after any of the following occur:
^ radio is disconnected from vehicle power supply
^ battery cable is disconnected
^ radio fuse blows
^ battery goes dead
CAUTION
Before disconnecting the battery or in any other way interrupting the power to the radio, - ask customer if radio is coded with personal code
- be sure customer has recorded personal code
- be sure customer understands how to enter personal code to make radio work again
- recode the radio to make it work when it shows the following display:
CAUTION
Do not attempt to remove a cassette from the cassette player when the display shows
Radios received by the dealer in new vehicles or from the Parts Department are either coded by the factory or not coded.
You will find one of these conditions:
^ imported vehicles - factory coded
^ domestic vehicles - factory coded
^ aftermarket radios - not coded
^ replacement (rebuilt) radios - not coded
The factory code number is:
CAUTION
Do not try to make a coded radio work unless you know the following:
^ radio is either factory coded
OR
^ coded with customer's personal code
You can only make six tries to recode a coded radio to make it work
It the radio is not properly coded after three tries, - disconnect and reconnect battery cable OR
- remove and install radio fuse
You can now make three more tries to recode the radio
If you do not recode radio properly in these three tries, - radio is electronically locked-up and must be replaced
Making coded radios work
Conditions
^ power to radio has been interrupted
^ radio does not work
^ radio displays following when switched ON:
Work sequence
- switch radio ON
- push and hold AM/FM selector button down and then push and hold SCAN button until the display changes as shown below
^ the following two displays will appear one after the other
After blank display appears, - release AM/FM and SCAN buttons
Enter factory code OR personal code by pushing station selector buttons 1,2,3,4
For example:
To enter factory code number "1 1 1 1"
- push each button one time
Note
The first number of any code will be either 0 or 1 no matter how many times you push the station selector button.
To enter personal code, (Example: "1987")
- push button number 1 once
- push button number 2 nine times
- push button number 3 eight times
- push button number 4 seven times
^ display now shows 1 9 8 7
- push and hold AM/FM selector button down and then push and hold SCAN button
- hold buttons down until the display changes to the frequency of the last station played
- release buttons
Radio now works and is still coded
Decoding coded radio
Note
A coded radio must be decoded before a new code can be entered
CAUTION
Before decoding coded radio, - learn the following:
Is radio factory coded "1 1 1 1"? OR
Is radio coded with customer's personal code?
Conditions
^ radio is coded and works
Work sequence
- switch radio ON
^ radio displays frequency
^ radio works
- push and hold AM/FM button and then push and hold SCAN button
^ following three displays appear one after the other
After blank display appears, - release AM/FM and SCAN buttons
Enter factory code or customer's current personal code by pushing station selector buttons 1, 2, 3, 4
To enter factory code "1 1 1 1", push each button one time
To enter customer's code, (For example "1987")
- push button number 1 once
- push button number 2 nine times
- push button number 3 eight times
- push button number 4 seven times
- push and hold AM/FM selector button down and then push and hold SCAN button
^ the following displays will appear one after the other
- hold buttons down until the display changes to the frequency of the last station played
- release buttons
Note
Radio may display frequency other than 87.9
Radio is now decoded, works, but is NOT theft protected.
- code radio with new personal code (page 5) OR
- code radio with factory code "1 1 1 1"
Entering a code number
Conditions
^ radio is not coded but works OR
^ radio has been decoded
Work sequence
- switch radio ON
- push and hold AM/FM selector button down and then push and hold SCAN button
^ following three displays will appear one after the other
After blank display appears, - release AM/FM and SCAN buttons
Enter factory code or personal code by pushing station selector buttons 1, 2, 3, 4
For example:
To enter factory code number "1 1 1 1"
