Brake pressure regulator, testing/adjusting Work sequence
^ vehicle not loaded (no cargo)
^ fuel tank full
^ driver in vehicle
- raise vehicle and connect gauges to left front and left rear brake calipers
- bleed both hoses and gauges with bleeder valve on gauges
- let vehicle down and bounce car several times at rear
- depress brake pedal until gauge on front caliper reads 60 bar (870 psi)
^ gauge on rear caliper must read 41-48 bar (595-696 psi)
- increase pressure on brake pedal until gauge on front caliper reads 100 bar (1450 psi)
^ gauge on rear caliper must read 58-65 bar (841-943 psi)
- if readings are not within specifications, move spring mounting in slot.
^ test pressure on rear axle too high:
release spring tension
^ test pressure on rear axle too low:
increase tension on spring
CAUTION
Do not adjust spring tension with brake pedal depressed.
- recheck pressures
- if pressure cannot be adjusted, replace regulator
- disconnect pressure gauges and bleed brakes
