Nq Work Procedure
A. REMOVAL OF FUEL TANK SENDER/TRANSFER PUMP ASSEMBLY- Assure fuel level is below three quarters
- Disconnect battery ground cable
- Remove rear seat bottom and fuel tank sending unit cover
- Disconnect three-prong electrical connector
- Disconnect the two fuel lines at sending unit and discard clamps (Identify fuel line location for reinstallation)
- Loosen sending unit by turning counterclockwise using tool No. 2012A and carefully remove sending unit from fuel tank

OF ASSEMBLY AND WORK REQUIRED.
NOTE: Vehicles within VIN range: WVWCA015_FK000001 - WVWCA015_FK004559 AND
WVWCA053_FK000001 - WVWCA053_FK007852 are to have the connecting hose diameter inspected, 19 mm hoses are to be replaced with a new hose - 533 919 133 (See Section C).
B. FILTER SCREEN REPLACEMENT
- Remove old type filter
- Position two of the three filter mounting ring indentations at the reinforcement points of the inlet (Illust. I) and install new filter - 533 906 098
ILLUST. II:
- Check dimensions (Illust. II, Dimensions 1 and 2)
^ Dimension 1 - the bottom of the filter screen must be 175 mm from the bottom of the top plate of the sender.
^ Dimension 2 - the transfer pump cannot be further than 84 mm from the bottom of sender top plate, nor may the pump and sender pipe make contact inside the rubber connection hose.
- Reinstall sender/transfer pump assembly in fuel tank and secure the two fuel lines using clamps- 171 201 271 D (15.5 mm)
- Reconnect three-prong electrical connector
- Reconnect battery ground cable
- Check function of fuel gauge and fuel pump
- Reinstall rear seat bottom
ILLUST. III:
C. REPLACEMENT OF TRANSFER PUMP AND, WHERE NECESSARY, CONNECTING HOSE
- Disconnect the two-prong electrical plug from transfer pump (Illust. III, Point A)
- Remove and discard clamp, Point C and remove transfer pump
- Remove and discard clamp, Point D and remove connecting hose, if necessary, as per NOTE in Section A
- Install new transfer pump - 533 906 092C and, if necessary, connecting hose - 533 919 133
- Secure hose at Point C using clamp - 171 201 271G (16.8 mm) and at Point D using clamp - 171 201 271D (15.5 mm)
NOTE: Transfer pump and sending unit pipe must not make contact inside rubber hose, nor may pump be further than 84 mm from the bottom of the top plate of the sender (See Illust. III, Point E).
- Reconnect the two-prong electrical plug at the transfer pump
- Reinstall sender/transfer pump assembly in fuel tank and secure the two fuel lines using clamps - 171 201 271D (15.5 mm)
- Reconnect the three-prong electrical connector
- Reconnect battery ground cable
- Check function of fuel gauge and transfer pump
- Reinstall rear seat bottom
