FIGURE 1 - CONTROL UNIT, REMOVING/INSTALLING:





- remove instrument panel trim cover on passenger's side
- remove mounting screws (arrows)

FIGURE 2 - SPEED SENSOR, REMOVING/INSTALLING:




- disconnect battery ground (-) cable
- remove instrument cluster
- remove mounting screws (arrows)
- remove speed sensor

FIGURE 3 - STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES, REMOVING/INSTALLING:




- disconnect battery ground (-) cable
- remove steering wheel
- remove mounting screws (arrows)
- pull switches from steering column and disconnect electrical connectors

FIGURE 4 - VACUUM VENT VALVES, REMOVING:




- remove instrument panel trim cover on driver's side
- disconnect electrical connector and vacuum hose
- pull vent valve from bushing with needle nose pliers

Note

Vent valve threads are damaged during removal and valve may not be re-used.

FIGURE 5 - VACUUM VENT VALVE, INSTALLING:




- install vent valve by hand
- push vent valve into bushing with 10 mm socket until it stops
- pull pedal back against pedal stop
^ switch adjusts automatically when pedal is pulled back

FIGURE 6 - CONTROL ELEMENT, REMOVING/INSTALLING:




- unscrew linkage and remove from clip
- disconnect vacuum hose
- remove mounting bolt (arrow)

FIGURE 7 - LINKAGE, ADJUSTING:




- run engine until warm
^ oil temp. at least 80~C (176~F)
- turn adjusting nut (1) until there is 0.1 to 0.3 mm play between bushing and stop plate (2)
