Front suspension of Golf, Jetta, GTI was designed so that routine camber adjustment would be unnecessary. If front wheel camber requires adjustment, proceed as follows:
- visually inspect suspension and replace all damaged components
- loosen existing bolts securing suspension strut to wheel bearing housing
- move top of wheel/tire in or out in direction required to attain proper camber
- tighten bolts to 80 N-m (59 ft.lbs..) and check camber
- if camber is out of specified range, replace original top bolt A only with special camber correction bolt B, Part No. N 903 334.01 .
^ special bolt B has same thread and head size as original bolt A but has a longer bolt shank with 1 mm thinner diameter to allow approx. 1~ camber adjustment.
CAUTION Part numbers are listed for reference only. Always consult with the Parts Dept. for latest information.
- with original-type bottom bolt A used as pivot, move top of wheel/tire in or out to attain proper camber
- if more movement is required to attain proper camber, only then also replace original lower bolt A with special camber adjustment bolt B
- after adjusting camber, tighten bolts to 80 N-m (59 ft.lbs.)
CAUTION
Do not move ball joint position in control arm
