Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

Valve Stem Seals, Replacing
- remove camshaft and cam followers
- turn crankshaft until piston on respective cylinder is at TDC
- remove valve springs using tools 2036 and VW 541/1. Valves then rest on piston crown
- remove valve stem seal using 3047




- install valve stem seals

Slide plastic sleeve A onto valve stem. Lubricate valve stem seal B, push seal carefully onto valve guide.

NOTE: Use plastic seal protector otherwise seal will be damaged.
