Exhaust rattles can be caused by the following condition(s):
^ insufficient clearance between corrugated pipe and heatshield
^ rubber hangers in area of catalytic converter stretched or torn
Repair Procedure(s)
- repair or replace heatshield/bracket as required
- use of rubber hanger P/N 171 253 147G (steel reinforced)
A production change (as of 5/83) in weld points of the heatshield/bracket creates greater clearance between the corrugated pipe and heatshield
