Kick-Down Switch, Removing and Installing

Location: Kick down switch (arrow) is integrated into accelerator cable and is located on bulkhead in engine compartment.

For On Board Diagnostic (OBD):

The kick down switch signal is transmitted from the engine control module to the automatic transmission control module.

Removing and installing kick down switch
^ First remove the accelerator cable. Remove and install the kick down switch. Then reinstall cable and adjust.

Note: The point at which the kick down switch operates must be clearly noticeable before the full throttle limit stop is reached.

Location: The kick down switch is integrated into accelerator pedal position sender (arrow), which is located near the accelerator pedal.

For On Board Diagnostic (OBD):

On vehicles without Data bus the signal is received via a wire from the engine control module.

On vehicles with data bus, the automatic transmission control module receives the kick-down signal from the data bus.
