Removing and Installing Overview



Overview

Notes:

- If a replacement cylinder head is installed, several contact surfaces between support elements, roller cam follower and cam lubricating surfaces camshafts must be oiled before installing the cylinder head cover.
- Do not remove plastic covers protecting exposed valves until immediately before installing cylinder head.
- Complete coolant must be replaced when replacing cylinder head.







1. Cap
- Replace seal if damaged
2. Oil filler tube
3. Bolt: Tighten to 8 Nm
4. Cylinder head cover
- Replace if damaged
5. Seal/sealing ring
- Always replace Seal/sealing ring
- Note installed position
6. Lifting eye
7. Bolt: Tighten to 25 Nm
8. Crankshaft roller chain
9. Combination valve
10. Exhaust camshaft adjuster
- Identification: 32A
- Only rotate engine with crankshaft adjuster installed
11. Valve -1- for camshaft adjustment -N205-
- for intake camshaft
12. Cover piece
- Can be removed and installed with the cylinder head installed
- Coat sealing surfaces with sealant AMV 188 001 02
- If only the cover piece was removed, prepare cylinder head gasket for installation.
- with O-ring for oil channel seal
13. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor -G163-
- For exhaust camshaft
14. Chain adjuster, 40 Nm
- for camshaft roller chain item 8
- Only rotate engine with chain adjuster installed
15. Seal
- Replace if damaged or leaking
16. Bracket

- Replace if damaged or leaking
18. Bracket
19. Bolt: Tighten to 25 Nm
20. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor -G40-
- for intake camshaft
21. Valve -2 -for camshaft adjustment -N208-
- For exhaust camshaft
22. Glide track
- for camshaft roller chain item 8
- clipped into control housing
- Replace if damaged
23. Bolt: Tighten to 60 Nm 1/4 turn (90 °)
- Always replace camshaft adjuster bolts
- Contact surface of sensor wheel at bolt head must be dry when installing
- To remove and install, counterhold at crankshaft using an open-end spanner (32 mm). Service and Repair
24. Intake crankshaft adjuster
- Identification: 24E
- Only rotate engine with crankshaft adjuster installed
25. Bolt: Tighten to 10 Nm
26. Thermostat housing
27. Cylinder head gasket
- Metal gasket
- Always replace Cylinder head gasket
- After replacing, completely replace coolant
28. Cylinder head
- After replacing, completely replace coolant
29. Tensioner for ribbed belt
- Ribbed belt, removing and installingService and Repair
30. Cylinder head bolt
- Always replace Cylinder head bolts
- Observe installation instructions and sequence for loosening and tightening.
31. Bolt: Tighten to 25 Nm
32. Bolt: Tighten to 10 Nm
- with spacer sleeve and sealing ring
- Replace sealing ring if damaged
