Component Notes and Information

NOTE:
^ During service procedures, refer to the illustration above and the information below
^ After servicing calipers, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
^ To remove brake fluid from the reservoir use a bleeder bottle which is used only for brake fluid

WARNING: Brake fluid is poisonous.

1 Hex bolt
- Tighten to: 280 Nm (207 ft lb)
2 Brake pad support
3 Bridge
- Bolt together with brake caliper housing, refer to Fig. 1 below
4 Brake rotor
- When worn always replace on both sides
- To remove, first remove lower brake caliper bolt and loosen upper bolt
- Ventilated brake rotor diameter: 280 mm
- Brake rotor thickness: 24 mm
- Wear limit: 20 mm
5 Hex socket head bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
6 Brake pad, outer
- With adhesive foil on backing plate
- When worn always replace on both sides
- Removing and installing, refer to Replacement. Service and Repair
- Pad thickness when new: 13 mm
- Checking thickness refer to Brake Pad, Testing and Inspection
- Wear limit: 2 mm, not including backing plate (remaining pad material thickness)
7 Brake pad, inner
- When worn always replace on both sides
- Removing and installing refer to Replacement. Service and Repair
- Pad thickness when new: 13 mm
- Checking thickness refer to Brake Pad, Testing and Inspection.
- Wear limit: 2 mm, not including backing plate (remaining pad material thickness)

- Check for damage
13 Multi-point socket head bolt
- Tighten to: 90 Nm (66 ft lb)
14 Hex nut
- Tighten to: 70 Nm (52 ft lb)
15 Bleed screw
16 Brake line with union connection
17 Bracket
18 Hex bolt
- 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
19 Bracket for brake hose
20 Brake hose
21 Brake caliper housing
- Servicing, refer to Overhaul
- Bolt together with bridge, refer to Fig. 1 below.

Procedures

- Position bridge with multi-point socket head bolts and tighten.
- Insert plate -1- (50 x 24 x 2 mm, locally manufactured) between face of brake rotor and lower side of bridge.
This ensures sufficient clearance between bridge and brake rotor.
- Press brake caliper housing/bridge against plate and tighten guide pins hex nuts.
- Remove plate and ensure brake rotor has sufficient clearance.

NOTE:
^ First tighten leading side guide pins.
^ Counter-hold at guide pins with an open end wrench and grind to fit, if necessary.

- Tighten the following to:
Multi-point socket head bolt: 90 Nm (66 ft lb)
Nuts for guide pins: 70 Nm (52 ft lb)
