Component Notes And Information

NOTE: During service procedures, refer to the illustration above and the information below.

1 Piston ring
- Check for correct location refer to Fig 1 below
- Installing refer to Fig. 2 below.
2 Piston ring
- Check for correct location refer to Fig 1 below
- Installing refer to Fig. 2 below.
3 Piston ring
- Check for correct location refer to Fig 1 below
- Installing refer to Fig. 2 below.
4 Thrust washer
5 Piston
- Sealing lips are vulcanized to the piston
- Moisten sealing lips with ATF before inserting
- Turn piston slightly when installing
6 Bolt
- Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft lb) plus 45° (1/8 turn) further
7 Stator support
8 Outer gear
- Manufacturer's marking faces stator support
- If outer gear is incorrectly installed, the ATF pump may not operate freely in the installed position
9 Inner gear
- Larger groove faces stator support
10 Housing for ATF pump
11 O-ring
- Always replace
12 Torque converter oil seal
- Removing and installing refer to Replacement. Service and Repair

Procedures





Fig. 1 Piston Rings, Checking For Correct Location
- Ensure that ends of piston rings are hooked together.





Fig. 2 Piston Rings, Installing Together
- Place piston ring in groove.
- Hook ends together by pressing sides of ring in and guiding ends over one another.

CAUTION: Do not twist piston ring out of groove on one side.
