Functional Check




EVAP Canister, Checking For Leaks

Special tools and equipment

- VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool with adaptor cable VAG 1551/3

Test conditions:







- Fuse 29 OK.
- No DTCs stored in memory
- All electrical consumers such as A/C, lights and rear window heating switched off.
- Intake air temperature less than 90 °C (195 °F) See display group 007, display field 4
- Coolant temperature less than 95 °C (203 °F) See display group 007, display field 3
- Throttle in closed position See display group 005, display field 4

Functional check
- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool
- Start engine
- Press -0- and -1 - buttons to select Address Word 01 "Engine electronics"

Display will appear as shown

- Press -0- and -4- buttons to select Function 04: "Basic setting"
- Press -Q- button to confirm input.

Note (for display field 3):
- If specification in display field 3 are not obtained: Check DTC memory and erase.
- Specification shows diagnosis time for 10 or 19 seconds.
- If value displayed us less than 10 seconds, the Leak Detection Pump(LDP) -V1444- is activated too often and the Engine Control Module detects a leak. Check DTC memory and erase.
