42. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Interchange the door side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors.

(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(c) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

(d) Turn the ignition switch off.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Check for DTCs Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

Result:

HINT
Codes other than DTCs B1633 and B1638 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

(h) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(i) Return the door side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

43. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.

HINT
Codes other than DTCs B1633 and B1638 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

(h) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(i) Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

44. CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and door side airbag sensor LH. Also check that the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH are properly connected.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

HINT
If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

(d) Disconnect the connectors from the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and door side airbag sensor LH. Also disconnect the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH.

(e) Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

OK:

The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE WIRE HARNESS
OK -- Continue to next step.

45. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH CIRCUIT (OPEN)

(a) Connect the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH.

(b) Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDL+) and 1 (BDL-) of connector E.

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

46. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH CIRCUIT (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector E.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

47. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

(d) Turn the ignition switch off.

(e) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

49. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Connect the connectors to the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH.

(b) Interchange the door side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors.

(c) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(d) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

(e) Turn the ignition switch off.

(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Check for DTCs Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

Result:

Codes other than DTCs B1692, B1693, B1697 and B1698 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(h) Turn the ignition switch off.

(i) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

(j) Return the door side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

50. CHECK SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disconnect the front door wire LH connector from the floor wire.

52. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE LH (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the front door wire LH connector from the floor wire.

56. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

(f) Turn the ignition switch off.

(g) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.

Result:

(i) Turn the ignition switch off.

(j) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(k) Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

(f) Turn the ignition switch off.

(g) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs Separate Type Yaw Rate Sensor.
