Drive Belt: Service and Repair

DRIVE BELT

COMPONENTS:





REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH
2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
3. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1





4. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD W/ BRACKET
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and control rod.
5. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING STAY NO.2 RH
6. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET NO.2 RH





7. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) Using SST, slowly turn the V-ribbed belt tensioner clockwise.
SST 09249-63010
(b) Remove the V belt from each pulley and slowly return the tensioner.

NOTICE:
^ Make sure that SST and other tools are set to the tensioner securely.
^ When compressing the V-ribbed belt tensioner, slowly turn the tensioner.
^ Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the parts.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT V-RIBBED BELT

HINT:
^ After installing the drive belt, check that it fits properly in the ribbed grooves. Check with your hand to confirm that the belt has not slipped out of the groove on the bottom of the crank pulley.
^ A "new belt" is a belt which has been used for less than 5 minutes on a running engine.
^ A "used belt" is a belt which has been used on a running engine for 5 minutes or more.
^ After installing a new belt, run the engine for approximately 5 minutes and then recheck the tension.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) Using SST, slowly turn the V-ribbed belt tensioner clockwise and install the V belt.

NOTICE:
^ Make sure that SST and other tools are set to the tensioner securely.
^ When compressing the V-ribbed belt tensioner, slowly turn the tensioner.

2. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET NO.2 RH
Torque: 52 Nm (531 kgf-cm, 38 ft. lbs.)
3. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING STAY NO.2 RH
Torque: 64 Nm (653 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.)





4. INSTALL ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD W/ BRACKET
(a) Install the engine control rod with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 64 Nm (653 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.)
5. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
