Shifter CVT: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTIONInspect Shift Lever Operation
a. Turn the ignition switch ON and depress the brake pedal.
b. When shifting it to each position, make sure that the shifting lever moves smoothly, can be moderately operated and the position indicator displays correctly.
Positions which can be operated without pressing the shift lever knob button
R -> N -> D, B -> D -> N
Positions which can be operated only by pressing the shift lever knob button
D -> B, P -> R, N -> R -> P
REMOVAL
NOTICE: Do not disassemble the shift lever assembly.
1. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD
2. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER FINISH PANEL
4. REMOVE COLUMN LOWER AND UPPER PANELS
5. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH
6. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 bolts.
b. Disconnect the shift lever connector.
c. Disconnect the shift lever assembly and transmission control cable.
d. Remove the shift lever assembly.
ADJUSTMENT
Adjust Shift Lever Operation
a. Remove the steering column lower cover and instrument lower finish panel RH.
b. Shift into the P position.
c. Loosen the control cable adjusting nut.
d. Release the parking brake and push the vehicle back and forth to check that it does not move. After the check, depress the brake pedal.
e. While pushing the shift lever toward P range side, lightly pull the rod of the control cable once and release it.
f. While pushing the shift lever toward P range side, tighten the adjusting part of the control cable.
g. Install the steering column lower cover and instrument lower finish panel RH.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the shift lever assembly and transmission control cable.
b. Connect the shift lever connector.
c. Install the shift lever assembly with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.)
2. INSTALL COMBINATION SWITCH
3. INSTALL COLUMN LOWER AND UPPER PANELS
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT LOWER FINISH PANEL
5. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL
6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD
