Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
Remove the wheel and temporarily fasten the disc with the 3 hub nuts.
2. DISCONNECT FLEXIBLE HOSE
a. Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets from the caliper, then disconnect the flexible hose from the caliper.
b. Use a container to catch the brake fluid as it drains out.
3. REMOVE CALIPER
a. Except convertible: Remove the installation bolt.
b. Convertible: Remove the 2 installation bolts.
c. Remove the caliper from the torque plate.
4. REMOVE 2 BRAKE PADS WITH ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS
5. Convertible: REMOVE PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE
6. REMOVE 4 PAD SUPPORT PLATES
7. Except convertible: REMOVE MAIN PIN
Loosen the main pin installation bolt and remove the main pin.
INSTALLATION
1. Except convertible: INSTALL MAIN PIN
Install the main pin and installation bolt.
Torque: 26 Nm (270 kgf-cm, 20 ft. lbs.)
2. INSTALL 4 PAD SUPPORT PLATES
3. Convertible: INSTALL PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE
Install the pad wear indicator plate to the downside of the inner pad.
4. INSTALL 2 PADS WITH ANTI-SQUEAL SHIMS
NOTICE: There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surface of the pads and disc.
5. INSTALL CALIPER
Install the caliper to the torque plate with the installation bolt(s).
Torque:
Except convertible: 20 Nm (200 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
Convertible: 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.)
6. CONNECT FLEXIBLE HOSE
Connect the flexible hose to the caliper, then install the union bolt and 2 new gaskets to the caliper.
Torque: 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.)
HINT: Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the caliper.
7. FILL BRAKE RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID AND BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM
8. CHECK FOR LEAKS
9. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
