COLLISION REPAIR INFORMATION
CRIB104

TITLE: PRIUS EMERGENCY RESPONSE GUIDE

SECTION: GENERAL INFORMATION BULLETIN #104

MODELS: 2001 PRIUS

DATE: JUNE 2000

The all-new Prius features the Toyota Hybrid System (THS), a new kind of power train for a new kind of vehicle-the combination of two different power sources: a gasoline engine and an electric motor.

CAUTION

The Toyota Hybrid System contains circuits that are capable of producing 274 volts.

Careless handling of the hybrid system may result in fatal electrical shock!

The Toyota Prius requires special procedures that must be followed, not only when performing ordinary service on the vehicle, but also for rescuing passengers, or handling the vehicle in case the vehicle is damaged in an accident or a disaster.

Carefully review the contents of the attached Emergency Response Guide to prevent injuries and secondary disasters.

IMPORTANT

Reviewing the Emergency Response Guide DOES NOT qualify collision repair technicians to service any Toyota Hybrid System (THS) components in the all-new Prius.

Only a Toyota Hybrid System qualified technician can perform THS service.

Specific collision repair and body panel replacement procedures can be found in the Prius Repair Manual for Collision Damage (PN 00400-BRM09-6E). Order through your Toyota dealership or by calling the Toyota Material Distribution Center.

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide and promote safety precautions when handling a collision damaged Prius.
