Leak Detection Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

VSV FOR CANISTER CLOSED VALVE (CCV)

INSPECTION

1. REMOVE FUEL TANK




2. REMOVE VSV
a. Disconnect the air inlet hoses from the VSV for canister closed valve.
b. Disconnect the connector from the VSV for canister closed valve.
c. Remove the bolt and disconnect the air opening valve from the VSV for canister closed valve.




d. Remove the 2 bolts and VSV for canister closed valve with the trap filter.
e. Remove the 2 bolts and VSV for canister closed valve from the trap filter.




3. INSPECT VSV FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Using an ohmmeter1 check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance: 25 - 30 ohms at 20 °C (68 °F)

If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.




4. INSPECT VSV FOR GROUND
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.

5. INSPECT VSV OPERATION




a. Check that air flows from ports A to B.




b. Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
c. Check that air does not flow from ports A to B.

If operation is not as specified, replace the VSV.

6. REINSTALL VSV
