Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Service Precautions
PRECAUTIONWhen working with Formed In Place Gasket (FIPG) material, you must observe the following:
^ Using a razor blade and gasket scraper, remove all the old FIPG material from the gasket surfaces.
^ Thoroughly clean all components to remove all the loose material.
^ Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue solvent.
^ Apply FIPG in an approximately 1 mm (0.04 inch) wide bead along the sealing surface.
^ Parts must be assembled within 10 minutes of application. Otherwise, the FIPG material must be removed and reapplied.
CAUTION:
If the vehicle is equipped with a mobile communication systems such as two-way radios and cellular telephones, observe the following precautions:
a. Install the antenna as far as possible away from the Engine Control Module (ECM), Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and sensors of the vehicle's electronic system.
b. Install the antenna feeder at least 20 cm (7.87 inch) away from the ECM, ECU and sensors of the vehicle's electronics systems.
c. Do not wind the antenna feeder together with the other wiring. As much as possible, also avoid running the antenna feeder parallel with other wire harnesses.
d. Confirm that the antenna and feeder are correctly adjusted.
e. Do not install powerful mobile communications system.
