Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

VSV For Evaporative Emission (EVAP) / INSPECTION

1. REMOVE [1][2]VSV





a. Disconnect the 2 EVAP hoses from the [1][2]VSV.
b. Disconnect the [1][2]VSV connector.
c. Remove the bolt and [1][2]VSV.




2. INSPECT [1][2]VSV FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance: 27-33 Ohm at 20°C (68°F)
If there is no continuity, replace the [1][2]VSV.




3. INSPECT [1][2]VSV FOR GROUND
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
If there is continuity, replace the [1][2]VSV.

4. INSPECT [1][2]VSV OPERATION




a. Check that air flows with difficulty from port E to port F.




b. Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
c. Check that air flows from port E to port F.
If operation is not as specified, replace the [1][2]VSV.

5. REINSTALL [1][2]VSV
a. Install the VSV with the bolt.
b. Connect the [1][2]VSV with the bolt.
c. Connect the 2 EVAP hoses to the [1][2]VSV.
