ON-VEHICLE REPAIR
1. REMOVE LH ENGINE UNDER COVER





2. REMOVE DRAIN PLUG AND DRAIN ATF
3. REMOVE OIL PAN AND GASKET
Remove the 18 bolts.

NOTICE:
^ Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.
^ Remove all pan bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly.
^ Discard the gasket.

4. REMOVE 2 MAGNETS FROM OIL PAN
5. EXAMINE PARTICLES IN PAN
Remove the magnets and use them to collect any steel chips.
Look carefully at the chips and particles in the pan and the magnet to anticipate what type of wear you will find in the transaxle.
^ Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear and plate wear
^ Brass (non-magnetic): bushing wear





6. REMOVE OIL STRAINER
Remove the 3 bolts, the oil strainer and the gasket.

NOTICE: Be careful as some fluid will come out with the oil strainer.





7. DISCONNECT 3 SOLENOID CONNECTORS





8. REMOVE MANUAL DETENT SPRING
Remove the bolt and manual detent spring.
9. REMOVE VALVE BODY





a. Remove the bolt and wire retainer.





b. Remove the 17 bolts.





c. Disconnect the throttle cable from the cam.





d. While disconnecting the manual valve connecting rod from the manual valve lever, remove the valve body with the manual valve together.





10. INSTALL VALVE BODY
a. While connecting the manual valve connecting rod to the manual valve lever, install the valve body with the manual valve together.
b. Connect the throttle cable to the cam.
c. Install the 17 bolts.
Bolt length:
A: 20 mm (0.79 inch)
B: 28 mm (1.10 inch)
C: 50 mm (1.97 inch)
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
d. Install the wire retainer and bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 56 inch lbs.)





11. INSTALL MANUAL DETENT SPRING
Install the manual detent spring and bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)

HINT: 16 mm (0.63 inch) length bolt.

12. CONNECT 3 SOLENOID CONNECTORS
13. INSTALL OIL STRAINER





a. Install a new gasket to the oil strainer.





b. Install the oil strainer with the 3 bolts.
Bolt length:
A bolt: 12 mm (0.47 inch)
B bolt: 20 mm (0.79 inch)
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)





14. INSTALL 2 MAGNETS IN OIL PAN
15. INSTALL OIL PAN AND GASKET
a. Install a new gasket to the oil pan and install them to the transaxle.
b. Install the 18 bolts.
Torque: 5.3 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
16. INSTALL DRAIN PLUG
Torque: 17 Nm (175 kgf-cm, 13 ft. lbs.)
17. INSTALL LH ENGINE UNDER COVER
18. FILL ATF AND CHECK FLUID LEVEL Refer to Automatic Transmission/Transaxle; Testing and Inspection; Procedures Troubleshooting.
