Removal and Installation

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

NOTE: Before changing the starter, check the following items again:
- Connector connection
- Accessory installation, e.g.: theft deterrent system







COMPONENTS

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER
2. w/ Cruise Control System:




REMOVE BATTERY

HINT: Face the arrow mark on the hold-down clamp forward.

3. w/ Cruise Control System:




DISCONNECT CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR FROM BODY BRACKET
a. Disconnect the actuator connector.
b. Remove the 3 bolts, and disconnect the actuator from the body bracket.

4. REMOVE STARTER




a. Disconnect the starter connector.
b. Remove the nut, and disconnect the starter cable.




c. Remove the 2 bolts.
Torque: 37 Nm (380 kgf.cm, 28 ft.lbf)

d. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector and engine wire brackets from the starter.
e. Remove the starter.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
