EGR Valve: Service and Repair

1. DISCONNECT THROTTLE BODY FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD

2. REMOVE EGR VALVE
a. Disconnect the vacuum hose (from port E of VSV) and EGR hose (from vacuum modulator) from the EGR valve.





b. Loosen the 2 union nuts on the EGR pipe.
c. Remove the 2 nuts, EGR valve and gasket.





3. INSPECT EGR VALVE
Check for sticking and heavy carbon deposits.
If a problem is found, replace the valve.

4. REINSTALL EGR VALVE
a. Install a new gasket and the EGR valve with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 13 Nm (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)

b. Install the EGR pipe with the 2 union nuts.

Torque: 59 Nm (600 kgf.cm, 43 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the vacuum hose (from port E of VSV) and EGR hose (from vacuum modulator) to the EGR valve.

5. REINSTALL THROTTLE BODY
