Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP
3. DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLES FROM THROTTLE BODY
Disconnect these cables;
- Accelerator cable
- A/T throttle control cable
4. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
a. Disconnect these connectors:
- Throttle position sensor connector
- IAC valve connector
b. Disconnect these hoses:
- Vacuum hose (from upper port of TVV for EVAP) from port "P" of throttle body
- Vacuum hose (from port "Q" of EGR vacuum modulator) from port "E" of throttle body
- Vacuum hose (from port "R" of EGR vacuum modulator) from port "R" of throttle body
c. Type A:
Remove the 4 bolts.
d. Type B:
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
e. Disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifold.
f. Remove the gasket.
g. Disconnect these hoses from the throttle body, and remove the throttle body:
1. Water bypass hose (from water outlet)
2. Water bypass hose (from water bypass pipe)
* California:
Air hose (from intake manifold) for air assist system
* Except California:
Air hose (from air tube) for PS idle-up
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY
a. Connect these hoses to the throttle body:
1. Water bypass hose (from water outlet)
2. Water bypass hose (from water bypass pipe)
3. California:
Air hose (from intake manifold) for air assist system
4. Except California:
Air hose (from air tube) for PS idle-up
b. Attach a new gasket to the intake manifold, facing the protrusion downward.
1. Type A:
Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
HINT: Different bolt lengths are used for the upper and lower sides. Bolt length:
Upper side 45 mm (1.77 in.)
Lower side 55 mm (2.17 in.)
2. Type B;
Install the throttle body with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft. lbf)
c. Connect these hoses;
- Vacuum hose (from upper port of TVV for EVAP) to port "P" of throttle body
- Vacuum hose (from port "Q" of EGR vacuum modulator) to port "E" of throttle body
- Vacuum hose (from port "R" of EGR vacuum modulator) to port "R" of throttle body
d. Connect these connectors;
- Throttle position sensor connector
- IAC valve connector
2. CONNECT CONTROL CABLES TO THROTTLE BODY
Connect these cables;
- Accelerator cable
- A/T throttle control cable
3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP
4. FILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT
