Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REMOVAL
Assembly is in the reverse order of removal.

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system. Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.

Specified amount:
700 ± 50 g (24.89 ± 1.76 oz.)


2. REMOVE THESE PARTS:
- Radiator Grille
- Hood Lock
- Center Brace
- Radiator Reserve Tank and Bracket

3. REMOVE RECEIVER





4. REMOVE HEADLIGHT RIGHT SIDE

5. REMOVE CONDENSER FAN
(a) Disconnect condenser fan harness.
(b) Remove the 2 clips.
(c) Pull condenser fan out.





6. REMOVE OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Disconnect oxygen sensor harness.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts. 2 bolts and oxygen sensor.

Torque:
Bolts: 19.7 N.m (201 kgf-cm. 15 ft.lbf)
Nuts: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm. 15 ft.lbf)






7. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE FROM CONDENSER FITTING

Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm. 7 ft.lbf)

REMOVAL HINT: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of the system.

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate the new 0-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.

8. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT BRACKETS

9. REMOVE CONDENSER
(a) Remove the 2 condenser mounting bolts.
(b) Lean the radiator back and pull the condenser out.

INSTALLATION HINT: If condenser was replaced, add compressor oil to compressor.

Add 40 - 50 cc (1.4 - 1.7 fl.oz.)

Compressor oil: ND-OIL8 or equivalent
