Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Disarm airbag system, refer to Air bag Arming & Disarming Procedures.
2. Discharge system refrigerant.

3. Disconnect refrigerant lines at cooling unit Fig. 11, capping all openings.
4. Remove earth wire.
5. Remove A/C amplifier and bracket.
6. Remove cooling unit attaching nuts and bolts, then remove unit.
7. Disconnect electrical connector at cooling unit.
8. Remove thermistor.

9. Remove clamps and screws securing lower evaporator case, then remove lower evaporator case, Fig. 13.
10. Remove two attaching screws, then the upper evaporator case.
11. Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate and recharge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4-1.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
12. Rearm airbag system, refer to Air bag Arming & Disarming Procedures.
