Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. On models with airbag, disable airbag system as described under Technician Safety Information.
2. Remove lefthand hood side panel.
3. On models less airbag, disconnect battery ground cable. Remove battery, battery tray and/or igniter bracket, if necessary.
4. On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, remove air cleaner assembly, if necessary.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors from starter motor.
6. Remove starter motor attaching bolts, heat shield (if equipped), then the starter motor.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Arm airbag system.
