Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

2. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) CABLE FROM BATTERY

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 second8 from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





3. REMOVE FOLLOWING PARTS:
- Radiator Grille
- Hood Lock
- Center Brace
- Radiator Reserve Tank and Bracket





4. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBES AND REMOVE RECEIVER WITH BRACKET

HINT: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of the system.

5. REMOVE HEADLIGHT RIGHT SIDE





6. REMOVE CONDENSER FAN
(a) Disconnect condenser fan harness.
(b) Remove the 2 clips.
(c) Pull condenser fan out.





7. REMOVE OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Disconnect oxygen sensor harness.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and oxygen sensor.





8. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE FROM CONDENSER FITTING

HINT: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of the system.

9. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT BRACKETS

10. REMOVE CONDENSER
(a) Remove the 2 condenser mounting bolts.
(b) Lean the radiator back and pull the condenser out.

CONDENSER INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL CONDENSER
Install the condenser with the 2 condenser mounting bolts.

2. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE TO CONDENSER FITTING

Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

3. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT BRACKETS





4. INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Install oxygen sensor with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

Torque:
Bolts 19.7 N.m (201 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
Nuts 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm. 15 ft.lbf)


(b) Connect oxygen sensor harness.





5. INSTALL CONDENSER FAN
(a) Install condenser fan with 2 clips.
(b) Connect condenser fan harness.

6. INSTALL HEADLIGHT RIGHT SIDE





7. INSTALL RECEIVER WITH BRACKET

8. CONNECT LIQUID TUBES TO RECEIVER

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)





9. INSTALL FOLLOWING PARTS:
- Hood Lock
- Center Brace
- Radiator Grille
- Radiator Reserve Tank and Bracket

10. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) CABLE TO BATTERY

11. IF CONDENSER WAS REPLACED, ADD COMPRESSOR OIL TO COMPRESSOR

Add 40-50 cc (1.4-1.7 fl.oz.)

Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent


12. EVACUATE AIR FROM AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM

13. CHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT AND INSPECT FOR LEAKAGE

Specified amount: 750 ± 50 g (26.45 ± 1.76 oz.)
