PURPOSE
This Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) is used as a vacuum signal controller for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) System.

OPERATION

Location Of VSV For EGR Valve (Except California Spec.):

This 'Normally Open' VSV is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). It is turned ON when the product of rpm multiplied by vacuum sensor (MAP) value exceeds a specified value.
When OFF, the VSV bleeds the vacuum signal to the EGR Valve is bled to the atmosphere. When switched ON, the passage to atmosphere is blocked allowing the EGR vacuum signal to act upon the EGR Valve.
