Inspection Procedure

DTC 43 Starter Signal Circuit

PROCEDURE
1. CHECK OUTPUT CONDITION OF DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 43.
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Connect terminals TE2 and E1 of data link connector 2 (DLC 2).
- Turn ignition switch ON (Don't start the engine).
- Connect terminals TE1 and E1 of DLC 2.

DTC 43 should be output by the malfunction indicator lamp.

- Start the engine.

DTC 43 should not be output by the malfunction indicator lamp.

- If OK proceed to "Diagnosis By Symptom".
- If not OK proceed to step 2.

2. CHECK FOR OPEN IN HARNESS AND CONNECTOR BETWEEN ECM AND STARTER RELAY.
- If OK check and replace ECM.
- If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
