EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) controls when the EGR is allowed vacuum. The ECM uses to prevent EGR operation when the engine is cold for improved driveability.
OPERATION
The solenoid receives voltage whenever the ignition switch is turned on. When EGR is required, the Electronic Control Module (ECM) grounds the remaining terminal which opens the solenoid vacuum passage allowing vacuum to the EGR.
