Inspection Procedure
1. CHECK OPERATION OF VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE FOR ACOUSTIC CONTROL INDUCTION SYSTEM (VSV for ACIS).(a) Remove VSV.
(b) Disconnect VSV connector.
(c) Measure resistance between terminals.
Resistance at 20°C (68°F): 38.5 to 44.5 Ohms
(d) Measure resistance between each terminal and the body.
Resistance: 1 M-Ohm or higher
(e) Check operation of VSV when battery voltage is applied and released to the VSV terminals.
- With battery voltage applied: Air should pass from Port E to Port F.
- When battery voltage is not applied: Air should pass from Port E out through the air filter.
^ If OK proceed to step 2.
^ If not OK replace the VSV for ACIS.
2. CHECK VOLTAGE BETWEEN TERMINAL "ACIS" OF ECM CONNECTOR AND BODY GROUND.
(a) Connect the Check Harness A.
(b) Turn ignition switch ON.
(c) Measure voltage between terminal ACIS of ECM connector and body ground.
Voltage: 9 to 14 volts
^ If OK check vacuum tank operation.
^ If not OK proceed to step 3.
3. CHECK FOR OPEN AND SHORT IN HARNESS AND CONNECTOR BETWEEN EFI MAIN RELAY AND ECM.
^ If OK check and replace ECM.
^ If not OK repair or replace harness or connector.
