Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

VOLUME AIR FLOW (VAF) METER REMOVAL PROCEDURES



1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the Negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
(a) Disconnect the following hoses:



(1) PS air hose from air connector pipe
(2) PCV hose from No.2 cylinder head cover
(b) Loosen the 2 hose clamps, and remove the air connector pipe together with the hoses.

3. REMOVE VAF METER.



(a) Disconnect the VAF meter connector.
(b) Disconnect the VAF meter wire from the wire clamp on the bracket.



(c) Remove the 4 nuts, bolt, VAF meter and gasket.


VAF METER INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
1. INSTALL VAF METER FROM AIR CLEANER.



(a) Install a new gasket and the VAF meter with the 4 nuts and bolt.

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft.lb)

(b) Connect the VAF meter connector.



(c) Install the VAF meter wire to the wire clamp on the bracket.

2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
(a) Install the air connector pipe with the 2 hose clamps.
(b) Connect the following hoses:



(1) PS air hose to air connector pipe
(2) PCV hose to No.2 cylinder head cover

3. CONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
