Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Injector Assembly:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove PCV hose.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
4. Remove fuel return hose.
5. Remove fuel inlet hose.

Fuel Injector Removal:

6. Remove throttle cable bracket.
7. Disconnect fuel injector electrical connector.
8. Remove air intake chamber support.

Fuel Injector Removal:

9. Remove two mounting bolts and lift out fuel rail with injectors.
10. Pull injectors out of fuel rail.

Injector Replacement:

INSTALLATION
1. Install new o-ring and grommet on each injector.
2. Lubricate o-ring with gasoline and slide injectors into fuel rail.

Fuel Injector Spacer Installation:

3. Install spacers on intake manifold.
4. Place fuel rail with injectors on intake manifold.

Fuel Injector Installation:

5. Injectors should rotate smoothly in their bores, if not, recheck installation and o-rings.
6. Position each electrical connector pointing up.
7. Install the two mounting bolts and torque to 14 ft.lb (19 Nm).
8. Reverse remainder of removal procedure to install.
9. Turn ignition on and check for leaks.
