Auxiliary Air Valve (Idle Speed): Description and Operation

Auxiliary Air Valve:

PURPOSE

The auxiliary air valve provides a fast idle during cold engine operation.

LOCATION

Mounted under the throttle body.


OPERATION

The valve controls an air bypass around the throttle plate. The amount of air allowed through the passage is based on engine coolant temperature.
