Distributor: Service and Repair

Ignition System:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Remove air intake hose.
3. Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs.
4. Remove distributor hold down bolts.
5. Slide distributor out of cylinder head.

Timing Marks:

INSTALLATION
1. Set engine to #1 TDC compression stroke.
2. Install new O-ring to distributor housing.
3. Lubricate O-ring with a light film of engine oil.

Distributor Installation:

4. Align mark on distributor shaft with mark on housing.
5. Slide distributor into cylinder head.
6. Lightly tighten hold-down bolts.
7. Set ignition timing, refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
