Removal and Installation
NOTE: On models with coded audio anti-theft systems, refer to Technician Safety Information for code procedures. On models with air bag system, disarm airbag system as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove level gauge, throttle cable, engine upper side mounting bolts and ground cable.
3. Disconnect harness wire and throttle cable clamps.
4. Remove speed sensor connectors, then raise vehicle.
5. Remove engine undercover, then disconnect driveshaft and suspend by cord.
6. Jack up transaxle.
7. Remove exhaust pipe, then install engine support fixture.
8. Remove suspension cover.
9. Remove starter, then disconnect neutral start switch.
10. Remove nut from control shaft lever, disconnect clip and remove shift control cable.
11. Remove two oil cooler tubes and filler tube.
12. Remove converter cover, turn crankshaft to gain access to remove six bolts, then remove seven bolts and transaxle.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
On models with air bag system, rearm airbag system as outlined under Technician Safety Information. If audio system was disabled, activate as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
