Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. On models with audio coded anti-theft system, obtain three digit anti-theft code as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect the IAT sensor connector.






4. Remove air cleaner hose clamp bolt.
5. Remove air cleaner cap clips.
6. Disconnect the air cleaner hose from the throttle body, and remove the air cleaner cap together with the air cleaner hose.
7. Remove the wire clamp.
8. Disconnect electrical connectors from starter motor.






9. Remove starter motor attaching bolts, heat shield (if equipped), then the starter motor.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Reset audio anti-theft system, if equipped, as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
