On-Vehicle Service


Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then clean exterior of transmission.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then drain transmission fluid.
3. On A340H models, remove front stabilizer bar and front propeller shaft.
4. On all models, remove oil pan attaching bolts, then remove oil pan by inserting oil pan seal cutter No. 09032-00100 or equivalent between oil pan and transmission case and cut seal.
5. Being careful not to damage oil pan flange, remove oil pan by lifting transmission case.
6. Remove attaching bolts, then oil strainer and two gaskets.
7. Note position of oil tubes to facilitate installation, then remove oil tubes.
8. Disconnect solenoid electrical connectors.
9. Remove attaching bolts, then disconnect throttle cable from the cam and remove the valve body.

Installation
1. Align groove of manual valve to pin of manual lever.
2. Connect throttle cable to cam, then ensure springs are correctly installed into the accumulator pistons.
3. Install valve body, then tighten to specifications.
4. Before installing solenoid wiring into the case, coat a new O-ring with ATF and install it into the grommet.
5. Insert solenoid wiring into the case, then install stopper plate.
6. Connect remaining connectors to No. 1, No. 2 and lock-up solenoids.
7. Using a plastic hammer, install oil tubes into position.
8. Install two new gaskets and oil strainer, then tighten to specifications and clamp the solenoid wire.
9. Install four magnets in the indentations of the oil pan.
10. Apply seal packing No. 08826-00090, Three Bond 1281 or equivalent to the oil pan.
11. Install oil pan, tighten to specifications.
12. Install drain plug, then tighten to specifications.
13. On A340H models, install front stabilizer bar and front propeller shaft.
14. On all models, add transmission fluid to specifications, then road test vehicle.
