Removal and Installation


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove transaxle oil level gauge.
3. Remove air duct.
4. Remove air cleaner lower case assembly.
5. Remove throttle cable from engine.
6. Remove wire harness.
7. Remove starter upper side bolt and two upper attaching bolts.
8. Install suitable engine lifting equipment.
9. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
10. Remove engine undercover, then drain differential and transaxle fluid.
11. Remove driveshaft cotter pin and lock cap, then with brakes depressed remove locknut.
12. Using suitable tool, remove tie rod end from steering knuckle.
13. Disconnect lower ball joint from lower arm.
14. Using suitable tool, disconnect driveshaft from axle hub.
15. Using suitable brass bar and hammer, drive out driveshaft, then remove snap ring.
16. Disconnect solenoid electrical connector.
17. Pull clip front control cable, then remove locknut and disconnect control cable from lever.
18. Disconnect neutral start switch electrical connector.
19. Remove oil cooler tube.
20. Remove ground wire.
21. Remove leftside engine mount two attaching bolts.
22. Remove starter attaching bolts, then remove starter.
23. Remove speedometer cable.
24. Disconnect No. 2 speed sensor.
25. Using suitable jack stand, support transaxle.
26. Remove rear mount No. 1 bracket attaching bolt.
27. Remove hole plug and three attaching bolts.
28. Turn crankshaft to gain access to torque converter attaching bolts, then hold crankshaft pulley nut with suitable wrench and remove six torque converter attaching bolts.
29. Remove transaxle housing attaching bolts, then remove torque converter.
30. Carefully lower transaxle from vehicle.
31. Reverse procedure to install.
