A/C - Precaution During Installation

A/TM COOLER HOSE

CONDITION:





During PIO/DIO Air Conditioning installation, A/TM cooler hose damage can result if improper installation procedures are followed. Under no circumstances should the radiator assembly be lifted during installation of the following components:

1) Air conditioner compressor bracket
2) Power steering pump bracket adjusting hardware.


A/TM COOLER HOSE INSPECTION:

If it is suspected that the A/TM cooler hose has been stressed during the PIO or Dealer air conditioning installation, a close inspection should be perfomed.





1. Underhood inspection

a) Lift the engine hood and visually inspect for any trace of ATF seepage or leakage from the area around the A/TM cooler hoses (transmission and radiator side).


2. Under vehicle inspection (This inspection maybe performed with the vehicle on the ground).

a) Apply slight pressure by pulling the flexible A/TM cooler hose away from the cooler pipe and clamp, and feel for any deformation or damage (external tears) to the ends (radiator and transmission sides) of the 2 A/TM rubber cooler hoses.


3. Repair Procedures

a) If any deformation or damage (external tears) to the A/TM cooler hose is detected replace the affected parts.

b) The ATF level should be inspected and corrected if necessary. Avoid overfilling the transmission.
