Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
ISC Valve InspectionInitial conditions:
^ Engine at normal operating temperature
^ Idle speed set correctly
Checking ISC Operation:
- Disconnect the ISC valve connector.
- Check the engine rpm.
Engine rpm: 1,000 rpm or more
Checking ISC Operation:
- Reconnect the ISC valve connector.
- Check that they return to the idle speed.
Idle speed: 800 +/- 50 rpm
- If the rpm operation is not as specified, check the ISC valve, wiring and ECU.
ISC Resistance Inspection:
Inspect ISC Valve Resistance
- Disconnect the ISC valve connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminal +B and other terminals (RSC, RSO).
Resistance: 19.3 - 22.3 ohms
- If resistance is not as specified, replace the ISC valve
- Reconnect the ISC valve connector.
Checking ISC Operation:
Inspect ISC Valve Operation
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal +B and negative (-) lead to terminal RSC and check that the valve is closed.
Checking ISC Operation:
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal +B and negative (-) lead to terminal RSO, and check that the valve is open.
- If any step fails to provide the indicated results, replace ISC valve.
